Mosquito and Tick Control: Bay to Bioreserve
Fall River sits on the eastern shore of Mount Hope Bay at the mouth of the Taunton River, with the Quequechan River flowing through the city center. The western half is dense and urban with waterfront and tidal flats. The eastern half is different entirely, with North and South Watuppa Ponds stretching along the Westport border and the Southeastern Massachusetts Bioreserve connecting watershed lands to Freetown-Fall River State Forest and Copicut Reservoir. This protected forest, streams, wetlands, and cranberry bogs run right up to residential neighborhoods. Whether you live near the bay or the Bioreserve, standing water and wooded cover keep mosquito and tick pressure high from spring through late fall. Mosquito Mike provides complete mosquito and tick control for Fall River. From seasonal barrier sprays and tick treatments to winter tick defense and General Pest Control, we cover it all. We maintain Massachusetts License AL-0056150. All technicians are individually licensed with Core Applicator credentials.

Mosquito Control
Mount Hope Bay, the Taunton River, and the Quequechan River provide breeding habitat across Fall River's western neighborhoods. The Watuppa Ponds hold water at massive scale on the east side, while cranberry bogs and wetlands stay saturated through warm months.
On your property, smaller sources do the same work: a clogged gutter, a bucket behind the garage, or a tire against a fence each produce hundreds within days. As soon as the air holds above 55°F, they're out and won't quit until a hard frost hits. Dawn and dusk bring heaviest biting, but shaded yards see pressure longer. Our seasonal barrier spray suppresses populations by up to 90%.
Tick Control
Fall River's eastern half borders the Bioreserve and Freetown-Fall River State Forest, one of the largest stretches of unbroken woodland on the South Coast. Deer move between protected forest and residential neighborhoods along the Watuppa corridor. As the key reproductive host for blacklegged ticks, one deer can leave dozens behind.
You don't need to live near the forest for risk. Walking the dog near an overgrown lot, gardening along a fence backing up to brush, or sitting on a patio near unmowed grass is enough. Blacklegged ticks pass along Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, babesiosis, and Powassan virus. Lone Star ticks carry ehrlichiosis and are linked to alpha-gal syndrome. We treat yard edges where ticks wait.
Winter Tick Defense
Hard frost finishes mosquito season. Tick season runs right through it. Blacklegged tick adults are fall-through-spring feeders, active and mating whenever temperatures push past freezing. Fall River's coastal position keeps winter milder than inland towns, giving ticks more active days each season.
Leaf litter and pine needle duff within the Bioreserve insulate ticks through the coldest months. Without treatment, they reproduce all winter. A single female lays up to 2,000 eggs, and by spring the next generation is already in place. Our winter tick defense treats during months most services skip.
General Pest Control
Bugs don't stay outside on their own. Our foundation treatment stops over 30 types of crawling insects, from ants and spiders to cockroaches and earwigs, before they cross your threshold. If bugs aren't your only concern, add Rodent Prevention and Termite Monitoring to lock down your home from every angle.
