Tick Control Services

Why Are There Ticks in My Yard?
Ticks thrive in areas with leaf litter, tall grass, and wooded borders. If your property backs up to woods, has overgrown edges, or sits near areas where deer and other wildlife roam, you're more likely to have a tick problem. They wait on the tips of grass blades and low branches for a host to brush past, then latch on.
What Attracts Ticks to Your Property
Several conditions make your yard appealing to ticks:
- Leaf litter and yard debris that provide humidity and shelter for ticks to survive
- Tall grass and overgrown vegetation where ticks wait for passing hosts
- Wooded borders and shaded areas that retain the moisture ticks need
- Wildlife activity from deer, rabbits, squirrels, and rodents that carry ticks onto your property
- Pets that move between outdoor tick habitats and your living spaces
Why Ticks Are a Serious Health Risk
Ticks spread several dangerous diseases:
- Lyme Disease - The most commonly reported tick-borne illness in the U.S. Symptoms include rash, fever, fatigue, and joint pain. Untreated, it can lead to neurological problems and chronic joint issues.
- Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) - Spread by American dog ticks. Severe cases can lead to organ failure.
- Ehrlichiosis - Transmitted by Lone Star ticks. Severe cases can cause respiratory failure and neurological problems.
- Powassan Virus - Rare but can cause permanent neurological damage.
Every time you, your family, or your pets spend time outside, there's a risk of exposure.
How Mosquito Mike Eliminates Ticks
Our tick treatments target the specific areas where ticks live and hide on your property. We focus on the highest-risk zones so you get the most effective protection possible.
Our Treatment Process
Our trained technicians treat the perimeter of your yard where ticks migrate in, leaf litter, mulch beds, and ground cover where ticks shelter, wooded borders and tall grass at property edges, and shaded moist areas that ticks prefer.
We treat on a regular schedule throughout tick season, and ticks don't stop when it gets cold. They go dormant in leaf litter and reactivate when temperatures climb above 40°F. Our winter tick control program targets overwintering ticks before they bounce back in spring.
Traditional or All-Natural: Your Choice
Our traditional treatment uses Bifenthrin, a synthetic version of compounds found in chrysanthemum flowers. We mix it with garlic and a sticking agent that helps it last through rain and sun. This formula is labeled for use in kennels and greenhouses.
For customers who prefer to avoid synthetic chemicals, we offer a 100% natural option using garlic, rosemary, peppermint, and other essential oils. It eliminates ticks on contact while remaining harmless to people and pets.
Safe for Your Family and Pets
After treatment, we ask that you keep kids and pets off the lawn for about 30 minutes while the product dries. After that, your yard is ready to enjoy. Tick protection is especially important for dogs, who are highly susceptible to tick bites and tick-borne diseases like Lyme. Our treatments protect your entire family, including the four-legged members.
