Mosquito Control Services

Why Are There So Many Mosquitoes in My Yard?
Mosquitoes thrive wherever they find standing water to breed. Even small amounts in flower pots, bird baths, clogged gutters, or old tires can produce hundreds of mosquitoes. If your property has shady areas, dense vegetation, or sits near wetlands, you’re even more likely to have a problem.
What Attracts Mosquitoes to Your Home
Several things make your property appealing to mosquitoes:
Standing water in containers, gutters, and low spots where water collects
Vegetation like trees, bushes, and tall grass where mosquitoes rest during the day
Carbon dioxide from you, your family, and your pets breathing
Body heat and sweat which mosquitoes can detect from a distance
Light and warmth from your home, especially at dusk and dawn
Why Mosquitoes Are More Than Just Annoying
Mosquitoes aren't just a nuisance. They're responsible for spreading serious diseases including:
- West Nile Virus - Can cause fever, headaches, and in severe cases, neurological damage
- Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) - Rare but potentially fatal
- Zika Virus - Particularly dangerous for pregnant women
Every bite is a risk. Professional mosquito control significantly reduces that risk for your family and pets.
How Mosquito Mike Eliminates Mosquitoes
We don't just spray and hope for the best. Our barrier spray program targets mosquitoes where they live, breed, and hide. The result? Up to 90% reduction in mosquito populations on your property.
Our Treatment Process
Every visit follows the same plan:
- A walk-through first. Your technician checks that the yard is clear to treat, dumps any standing water along the way, and plans the application around what the property looks like that day — including the hard-to-reach spots DIY methods miss.
- Standing water that can’t be dumped. We can place larvicide pucks that keep working on breeding sites between visits.
- Bi-weekly by design. Treating about every two weeks means we’re on your property twice a month — spotting new standing water, fresh growth, and problem areas between applications. Tri-weekly and seasonal plans cover the same ground on a longer cycle.
Curious what happens in the off-season? Our guide to where mosquitoes go in winter explains dormancy and when to expect them back in spring.
Traditional or All-Natural: Your Choice
- Traditional: Bifenthrin, a synthetic version of compounds found in chrysanthemum flowers, mixed with garlic and a sticking agent that helps it last through rain and sun. This formula is labeled for use in kennels and greenhouses.
- All-natural: citronella, peppermint, and cinnamon oils with garlic and a sticking agent. The garlic deters mosquitoes, the oils are toxic to insects, and we apply it with family- and pet-friendly practices. Read how our all-natural program works.
- Either way: barrier treatments coat the leaf surface — they don’t move into the plant — so new growth after a visit is untreated. A shorter cycle keeps up with it.

Family- and Pet-Friendly Practices
- Before we arrive: a text the night before, and another when your technician is on the way — typically about 45 minutes out. You don’t need to be home.
- What we need: everyone inside — pets included — windows and doors closed, and the gate unlocked. Toys, pet bowls, and furniture cushions are easy to bring in beforehand.
- During the visit: we treat resting habitat — shaded foliage, ground cover, wooded edges — and never spray vegetable gardens or anything in bloom, dandelions and clover included.
- After: keep kids and pets off treated areas until dry — typically 30–45 minutes. Then the yard is ready to enjoy.
